Lexington police said Sunday night that there have still been no arrests in the death of Umi Southworth, 44, who died Thursday with severe head and facial injuries.
Police are also investigating why nearly five hours elapsed between the discovery of her body in the bushes behind her house on Meadowthorpe Avenue and the realization that she was still alive. Southworth died Thursday afternoon at the University of Kentucky Hospital.
Police records say Southworth sustained severe head and facial injuries "believed to have been caused by an intentional assault with a large piece of wood."
Officers executed a search warrant at Southworth's home and took several items, but police would not elaborate.
Investigators said they have interviewed Southworth's husband, Don.
Don Southworth has a history of domestic violence, according to court records. At least three emergency protective orders have been taken out against him by two women.
