Lexington police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman early Tuesday morning behind the Spencerian College building on Winchester Road.
Bobby Tyronne McGhee, 35, has been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Thursday.
Police were called to an apartment complex off Eastland Parkway at 3:45 a.m. A woman said she had been taking a walk nearby when a man she didn't know approached her and pulled out a knife. He forced the woman behind the Spencerian College building at 1575 Winchester Road, where he raped her, the woman said.
The Lexington Herald-Leader does not typically identify victims of sexual abuse.
McGhee, a registered sex offender from Mississippi, was found at an apartment on Ash Street, Lt. Thomas Curtsinger said at a news conference Thursday.
Curtsinger said police were led to McGhee from tips they received after releasing a sketch of the assailant.
