An Eastern Kentucky man was charged Thursday with driving under the influence after the pickup truck he was driving collided with a school bus.
Michael York, 31, of Pineville was driving west on Ky. 221 about 4:10 p.m. when he when into the wrong lane and hit the school bus, which was going east, Bell County Sheriff Bruce Bennett said. The wreck happened at the intersection of Ky. 221 and Ky. 2011.
Ten students from nearby Right Fork Elementary School were riding on the bus. No one on the bus was seriously injured. Bennett said parents picked up their children from the scene.
York was taken to Pineville Community Hospital. He will be arrested once he is released from the hospital, Bennett said. He has been charged with second-degree DUI and 11 counts of wanton endangerment.
