A Lexington man was arrested and charged early Wednesday in connection with five armed robberies that happened Tuesday.
Larry Harless, 40, was charged with five counts of first-degree robbery, said Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for Lexington police.
Harless also was charged with one count of kidnapping after he resisted arrest by holding a knife to a woman who was at his Hill Rise Court apartment, Roberts said.
Police say Harless robbed the Puccini's in Chevy Chase, a Subway restaurant on Broadway and the Family Dollar on Versailles Road in addition to twice robbing Discount Tobacco on North Broadway — all on the same day. Before the arrest, police had pulled over a car driven by Harless in a routine traffic stop. Later, police made the arrest at his apartment off Versailles Road.

Police also arrested Cordero Canada at the Harless apartment on an outstanding warrant for not paying child support.
