A passenger in a Chevrolet pickup truck was killed when the pickup was hit by a train Monday evening, Kentucky State Police said.
The passenger has not been identified.
Police suspect that the driver of the truck, Terry Elliotte, 26, of Corbin, had been drinking. Elliotte was driving on Ky. 26, about two miles south of Corbin, when he drove around the railroad crossing arms and his pickup was struck by a CSX train operated by Darrell Faulkner, 60, of Knoxville, Tenn.
Elliotte, who was thrown from the vehicle, was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center with multiple injuries. His condition was not immediately available Tuesday. The truck stopped between two sets of railroad tracks.
