A robbery was thwarted Monday morning when the victim told the gunman his weapon looked like a toy.
The man refused to give the robber any money, so the robber fled, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
The robber's description is similar to that of the gunman in two other robberies in the area during the weekend, police said. Cash was taken during those robberies.
The incident happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Gazette Drive. The robber, who was wearing dark clothing and wielding the fake-looking gun, approached a man who was sitting on his porch, Roberts said. Witnesses reported seeing a gold pickup speeding away from the area.
Roberts did not have any details from the previous robberies. She said detectives are "looking into the possibility" that the crimes are related.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lexington Division of Police at (859) 258-3600.
