A Fayette County grand jury has indicted a man on a second-degree manslaughter charge in the death last summer of his 2-year-old son.
Brandon Christopher Fraley is accused of causing the child's death on or about Aug. 22 by asphyxiating him. Police have said that Fraley suffocated Derek Jaxon Cooper when he held his hand over the child's mouth to stop him from crying.
The grand jury also indicted Fraley on Wednesday on a second-degree persistent felony offender charge. Fraley was convicted of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance in a case that began in 2007.
Fraley is out of jail on a $7,500 full-cash bond.

Fraley is to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 in Fayette Circuit Court.
