Kentucky State Police have arrested a Western Kentucky man accused of setting a home on fire after stealing money from the resident.
A Calloway County grand jury indicted Michael Lax, 39, of Murray earlier this month on charges of first-degree arson, theft by unlawful taking, tampering with physical evidence and wanton endangerment, state police said.
Lax was arrested at his home on Wednesday.
Police said Lax started a fire at 3897 Wiswell Road in Calloway County on Aug. 31 after stealing $10,000 from the person who lives there. Lax was trying to destroy evidence of his theft by setting the fire, police said.

Lax was being held at the Calloway County jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
