A Lexington gas station was robbed by a man wielding a shotgun Monday night, and police are looking for the robber.
Police were called to the Marathon at 531 Southland Drive about 11 p.m., Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
When officers arrived, a clerk told them that a man in a mask came in, pointed a shotgun at him and demanded money.
The clerk complied, and the man ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Roberts said.
Never miss a local story.
Police dogs tracked the man a short distance, but the trail went cold at Southport Drive and Picadome Park, about a fifth of a mile away.
The robber was described as heavy-set and between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8. He wore a dark hoodie and dark jeans during the robbery, and some type of cover over the lower part of his face, Roberts said.
She said anyone with information about the robbery should call the Lexington Division of Police at (859) 258-3600.
