A man charged in one of 2010's grisliest homicides pleaded not guilty Monday in Fayette District Court.
Sidney Lane Williams Jr., 36, is charged with killing Victor Martin, 39, last year and setting his body on fire. Martin's body was found burning beside Russell Cave Road about 7:30 a.m. when a homeowner went outside to get his newspaper.
The two men were former coworkers, according to court documents. Both were employed at Aichi Forge, a metal-forging plant in Georgetown.
According to a uniform citation filed in Fayette District Court, Williams shot Martin, tied him up and set him on fire. He is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
Williams was being held at Fayette County jail without bond. He is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on April 4.
