A man suspected of robbing a Marathon gas station in Harrodsburg turned himself in Thursday afternoon to the Mercer County sheriff's office.
Terrence Lee Walker, 21, surrendered about 3:30 p.m. in Harrodsburg, Mercer County Deputy Sheriff Timi Moberly said. Walker's mother came into the sheriff's office and said her son was waiting outside in a vehicle.
He was charged with first-degree robbery and was taken to the neighboring Boyle County jail. His bond is $50,000, Moberly said.
The robbery happened at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, after a man walked around in the Marathon store at 620 South College Street until the manager went outside, Harrodsburg police. The man then pulled a gun on the clerk, who was giving change to a customer.
The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash; there were no injuries.
A short time later, police issued an arrest warrant for Walker after witnesses at the store identified him as the alleged robber.
Walker got a ride to Campbellsville, but he jumped out of the vehicle as it neared a police car, Harrodsburg police said. He fled on foot.
