A Knott County man was hospitalized Tuesday after a shooting outside a couple's house in Knott County.
State police say Jerry Caudill, 33, was shot during a confrontation outside the home of Stella and Paul Maggard in the community of Pippa Passes. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call about 9:50 p.m. about a man being shot on Trace Caney Road.
Police said Caudill went to the Maggards' home making threats. Paul Maggard confronted Caudill and told him not to enter his property, according to state police. Caudill continued to advance toward the couple, and Paul Maggard fired a shot, striking Caudill in the abdomen.
