A Harrodsburg man was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment after a 40-minute standoff with police Sunday afternoon, Harrodsburg police said.
Phillip A. Norris, 51, also is charged with resisting arrest and alcohol intoxication, according to a release from Harrodsburg police.
The incident was reported to police shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. Norris produced a handgun during a dispute with neighbors in the 100 block of Hycliff Street. Some neighbors took the gun away and locked it in a nearby pickup truck, police said.
Norris then went to his home and obtained an AK-47 rifle. Officers from the Harrodsburg Police Department, Mercer County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police responded to the call. Norris was arrested after he tried to flee the scene through his backyard, the release said.
