The Nicholas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Monday night shooting of two men near the Bath County line.
Paul Allen Jolly, 44, and Robert Evans, 46, both of Nicholas County, were taken by helicopter to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, said Sheriff Leonard "Dick" Garrett. The two men were listed in fair condition Tuesday.
The two were shot inside Jolly's truck on Bethel Road about 12 miles southeast of Carlisle shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday, Garrett said. Jolly took two shots to his left thigh, while Evans was shot in the right shoulder, Garrett said. Both were shot with a high-powered rifle, he said.
After the shooting, the two were able to make it to a friend's house on Upper Lick Road about 4 miles from the shooting scene. They were taken to Nicholas County Hospital before being flown to Lexington.
The shooting was the result of a feud with a neighbor that had been brewing since Saturday, Garrett said. No arrests have been made, but Garrett said the investigation is continuing.
