The man charged with shooting and killing Brian Edward Carr Jr. outside a downtown Lexington bar will be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court next week.
Robert Benton, 31, was indicted on one count of murder and one count of being a persistent felony offender Monday.
He is scheduled to enter a plea at an arraignment Thursday.
Police have said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over an alleged robbery. Benton, whose nickname is "Stuff," told friends and family that Carr, 19, had robbed him at gunpoint of about $1,500 before the killing.
Never miss a local story.
The two saw each other at the nightclub in the 300 block of East Main Street the next day. Police have said Benton did not know whether Carr still had a weapon and started firing.
Benton's attorneys have said the shooting was in self-defense.
