A Lexington day-care worker was indicted Monday by a Fayette County grand jury on three counts of second-degree criminal abuse involving a child younger than 12.
Linda Ester Perkins, 55, of 313 Shropshire Ave., No. 202, is accused of torturing or cruelly punishing, or allowing another person to torture or cruelly punish, her great-nephew.
The boy, of whom she had custody, was 3 when he was abused, according to court records. Perkins was employed by Community Action day-care in Lexington when police arrested her on June 9 on the abuse charges, according to court records. She is to be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court on Aug. 12.
