A woman who apparently was evicted Tuesday from a duplex in Winchester has been charged with arson and two counts of wanton endangerment.
Sondra Kay Jones, 36, is charged with starting the fire Wednesday afternoon at the home in the 2100 block of Dover Court.
Neighbors told investigators they saw Jones leave the duplex about 4:30 p.m. with clothes and start walking up the street, Winchester Fire Investigator Greg Beam said. Shortly after that, Beam said, the neighbors said smoke started coming out the side of the duplex. Neighbors helped a couple who was living in the other side escape without injury.
Beam said the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Jones was arrested on the bypass about a half-mile from the duplex, Beam said.
Jones was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where she was being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
