A Lexington police cruiser was involved in a collision with a vehicle just after 5 p.m. Sunday at Tates Creek Road and Clearwater Drive, police said.
According to an official report, Officer R.K. Raker was on Tates Creek Road at the intersection when he saw a pickup truck run a red light traveling east on Clearwater.
Police said Raker switched on his emergency lights and started to make a left turn onto Clearwater in pursuit of the truck when his Ford cruiser collided with a Toyota Avalon driven by John Hallum of Lexington.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and no injuries were reported, police said.
Never miss a local story.
This is the third wreck involving a Lexington police car this year. In early August a Lexington police officer Anthony J. Guidugli was involved in a fatal wreck on Harrodsburg Road at Bob-o-Link Drive that took the life of 21-year-old Travis Sutherland.
In May, Lexington police officer Justin Rowland's patrol car collided with a car carrying a newlywed couple to their wedding reception after the officer ran a red light.
