Police responding to a shooting at Fourth and Ohio streets near downtown Lexington about 1 a.m. Tuesday found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for Lexington police, said the bullet apparently broke a bone in the man's leg.
The victim told the officers that two juvenile males walked up to where he was standing "and shot him for no reason," she said.
Police found a bag of white powder near the spent casing, "so we believe this may be a drug-related offense," she said.
Never miss a local story.
The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
The shooting was the second in two days. On Sunday night, a teenager was shot in the leg in a parking lot at 1101 Centre Parkway.
Lexington officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area were flagged down by a woman driving a red car who said she was taking a shooting victim to the hospital, police said.
While waiting for an ambulance, the victim told police he was in the parking lot about 9:15 p.m. and was shot by a white male who fled in a purple minivan, Roberts said.
