An apartment fire on Martha Court on Tuesday has temporarily displaced four families.
The fire, at Martha Court Apartments, was reported just before 3 p.m., and firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the three-story building, Lexington fire Battalion Chief Randy Gilliam said.
Gilliam said the fire was confined to the apartment where it started, but neighboring apartments in the 12-unit building were damaged by smoke and water.
Gilliam said the woman who lives in the apartment was visiting a neighbor when the fire started; she smelled smoke, went back to her apartment and found the fire. The woman was not identified.
Never miss a local story.
She probably lost all her belongings, Gilliam said.
No one was injured in the fire, and Gilliam said Tuesday night that he did not know the cause.
