A search continued Monday for two inmates who walked away from Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington Sunday morning.
The two escapees, Jerry Nation and Anthony James Kendrick, were spotted at a southbound Interstate 75 rest area Monday morning, but they fled before police could catch them.
Scott County Deputy Sheriff Mike Caudill said the sheriff's office, Blackburn authorities and others searched from Delaplain Road to Champion Way in Scott County on Monday afternoon using dogs and a helicopter.
Nation, 31, is white, 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
Kendrick, 41, is white, 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
State police said both escapees were last seen wearing khaki or gray sweats.
The corrections department said Kendrick was serving an 8-year sentence on a McCracken County conviction for complicity to robbery and Nation was serving a 10-year sentence on burglary and theft convictions in Anderson and Oldham counties.
Anyone with information on the inmates should call their local law enforcement agency or the state police at 1-800-222-5555.
