Lexington police responded Friday evening to the third shooting in three days.
Police were called just before 5 p.m. to a shooting near Smith and West Fifth streets. The victim, in her late 30s, was shot in the back of the leg while walking, Lexington Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said. She was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday afternoon, a man was shot in a drive-by shooting on East Sixth Street. He also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday, a man was shot in the shoulder on Rand Avenue.
The shootings, although near each other in time and place, are thought to be unrelated, police said.
"We have no reason to think this is related to anything else right now," Van Brackel said.
