A 20-month-old Lincoln County girl who was injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash died Wednesday, the Fayette County coroner's office said in a news release.
Khiana Dowell was pronounced dead shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington.
She died of traumatic brain injury, the coroner's release said.
Khiana was among four people who were injured in the accident at U.S. 27 and Shake Rag Road south of Stanford, Kentucky State Police said.
She was riding in a Saturn that was hit from behind by a 2008 Kia sport utility vehicle at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Another child, 6-month-old Cameron Dowell, was listed in fair condition at UK.
Both children were in safety seats, state police said.
UK had no information about the driver of the Saturn, Kacey Dowell, the children's mother, who also was injured.
Brandon Dowell, 22, the father, who was a passenger, was treated Monday and released from UK hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The two people in the Kia were not injured.
