Blue Grass Army Depot and first responders will conduct a community-wide exercise on Wednesday to test and evaluate the emergency response of all agencies.
There will be multiple participants in the exercise, including Blue Grass Chemical Activity, the Kentucky Emergency Management Agency, various police and fire units, Madison County schools, and hospitals in Richmond and Berea. The surrounding counties also will be evaluated.
Madison County residents who live near Blue Grass Army Depot may hear the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) sirens sound off Wednesday morning. The three sirens on the depot will play "Westminster Chimes," the same tune used during Madison County siren tests.
The annual exercise provides added safety for all Madison County residents, as trained toxic chemical workers and emergency responders ensure that they continue to be ready to handle all potential accidents at the chemical weapons stockpile site.
