A Fayette County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Trina Michelle Hurst, a Fayette County jail inmate who didn't return to the facility after being granted a release to attend the trial of the man who was later convicted of killing her father.
Hurst is the daughter of Edgar T. Hurst, who was found beaten to death in Lexington and found in a shallow grave at a makeshift campsite last year. Timothy Meskimen, 39, was convicted of second-degree manslaughter Sept. 9.
Trina Michelle Hurst was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center on charges including probation violation, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence. She was scheduled for release March 19.
She was allowed out of jail Sept. 6 and attended the first day of the trial. She was supposed to be back in jail that night but didn't return; she was arrested Sept. 19 at a shopping center in Harrison County on an escape warrant.
Hurst, who turned 31 while on the lam, was indicted Tuesday on a charge of second-degree escape, a felony.
