A Rockcastle County homeowner shot a man during a burglary attempt on Wednesday, state police said in a news release.
The man who was shot, Jesse R. Roberts, 24, of Eubank, was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, state police said.
However, the hospital planned to released Roberts on Wednesday night, and police planned to pick him on a charge of second-degree burglary, said state police spokesman Trooper Don Trosper.
The incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Dorman Creek Road, which is near the Rockcastle/Pulaski County line.
The homeowner got a pistol when he heard someone breaking in to his house. When Roberts confronted the man inside his home, the man shot him in the shoulder, police said.
Roberts fled into nearby woods. Police found him later.
Police also found Katrina L. Price, 29, of Eubank, at the scene in a car and charged her with second-degree burglary.
It appears the homeowner acted in self-defense, and state police have no plans to charge him, Trosper said.
