A Lexington man accused of shooting an acquaintance Thursday across the street from a police station was quickly arrested.
Demarkio A. Dilworth, 25, is charged with first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.
According to a police report, Dilworth got into an altercation with another man near Centre Parkway and Appian way about 3:30 p.m. Dilworth "pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his jacket pocket and intentionally shot the other party twice," the report said.
Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said the two men knew each other. She said the victim's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Dilworth ran from the scene, tossing the magazine from the gun under a row of parked cars "in an attempt to conceal it from the police," the report said.
Police found Dilworth minutes after the shooting, behind the police east sector roll call building at the intersection where the shooting occurred.
