A man fleeing the scene of an investigation ran over the bicycles of two Lexington police officers, but not before the officers identified him, police said.
Police were searching for Michael Hamilton, 43, who is suspected to be the driver of the car, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
About 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, two officers on bicycles saw a vehicle parked in the lot of Bluegrass Auto Parts on East Seventh Street. The car did not have any lights on, she said.
The officers approached the car and saw "drug paraphernalia" in plain view on the floor, Roberts said. When they asked Hamilton to exit the vehicle, he sped away, running over and damaging the officer's bicycles, she said.
