A man was arrested quickly following a bank robbery in Lexington on Friday morning.
Kelly Scott Wooten, 40, is charged with first-degree robbery and violating the terms of his parole.
Wooten is accused of robbing the Fifth Third Bank on Plaudit Place in Hamburg about 10 a.m., police said.
After demanding money from the teller, the robber fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a silver passenger car.
Never miss a local story.
A bank employee followed the car and told police it had gotten on southbound Interstate 75. Police couldn't catch up to it before it crossed the county line, Lt. David Biroschik said.
He said Lexington police asked state police for help. State troopers found the car and the money around mile marker 84 in Madison County, he said.
Wooten was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.
