A man accused Monday of purse snatching also has been charged in two similar incidents, including one May 17 in which an 84-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and her pelvis was broken, Nicholasville police said.
James "Colton" Mahan, 21, was charged with two more counts of first-degree robbery in connection with purse snatchings May 17 and May 19 in the Wal-Mart parking lot, police said in a release. The victim on May 19 cut her hand while trying to hold onto her purse.
Mahan was arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing a woman's purse from her shoulder in the Kroger parking lot in Nicholasville. Police found him hiding in a back-yard storage building. At that time he also was charged with fleeing and evading, third-degree burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
Mahan remains in the Jessamine County jail.
