A Laurel County man who was in an alcohol-fueled fight in April that left his roommate dead was charged with murder Friday.
Freddy Couch, 56, was accused of beating Kenneth Edward Vincent, 36, to death.
Couch originally told deputies that he found Vincent dead on the living room floor, where Vincent had fallen asleep the night before. Evidence gathered over the following month, including autopsy results, showed that Vincent had been "severely and fatally beaten," a news release from the Laurel County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office has said that Couch and Vincent got into a fist fight while drinking at their home on Laurel Road in London on April 29. Vincent allegedly grabbed a knife, and Couch was able to disarm him.
Neither man called for police or for medical help after the fight ended. Instead, they went to sleep: Couch in his bedroom, and Vincent on the living room floor. Couch allegedly found Vincent dead the next morning.
Detective Charles Loomis charged Couch after reviewing physical evidence and autopsy results, and interviewing witnesses who were at the scene. Couch was being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on Friday morning.
