A man deported after committing a felony has been charged with illegally re-entering the United States.
Leonel Lopez-Limon, 34, was convicted in February 2010 of committing a felony — stealing drugs — in Carroll County and was deported to Mexico in October 2010, according to a court record.
Local police arrested him in Grant County in early May, and the detention center notified federal authorities, according to a statement from Ronnie D. Mullins, an agent with U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
Lopez-Limon had been convicted in Carroll County under the alias Christian Rosendo-Lopez, according to a court document.
Never miss a local story.
He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of illegally entering the U.S. for a second time.
