A woman was shot by the owner of a flea market early Sunday morning after the business was broken into, Georgetown police said.
Samantha Johnson, 21, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after the shooting was reported shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, said Georgetown police spokesman Lt. Robert Swanigan. A hospital spokeswoman had no information about Johnson's condition Monday morning.
Police arrived at 150 Edwards Avenue and found that Marion Criswell, the owner of Georgetown Vendors Mall, who also lives there, had fired shots from a .22-caliber revolver that struck Johnson.
Three other Georgetown residents were arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, Swanigan said. The others were Lawrence Bruner, 20; Jacob Stigers, 20; and Charles Flynn, 19, Swanigan said.
A large rock had been thrown through the glass front door of the business, Swanigan said.
Police consulted the commonwealth attorney's office about filing charges against Criswell, but no charges are planned, Swanigan said.
