Cora Kidd, 70, of Lexington died and two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Winchester Road near Bahama Road on Thursday, police and fire officials said.
According to a statement from Sgt. Chad Bacon, the accident occurred at 10:28 a.m. The violent crash closed the busy road for hours.
A Chevrolet Blazer traveling inbound on Winchester Road crossed the center line, sideswiping a Toyota Camry that was traveling outbound on Winchester Road, Bacon said. The Blazer continued inbound and struck a Dodge Ram driven by Kidd head-on.
The driver of the Blazer was identified as Michael B. Mundy of Winchester. Police did not identify the passenger. Both were taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Mundy was listed in serious condition Thursday night.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was suspected as a cause of the crash.
The driver of the Camry was identified as John J. Watkins. Neither he nor a passenger in the Camry, who was not identified, was injured, police said.
Winchester Road was entirely reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
