A woman remained in critical condition Friday afternoon after she and her small baby were seriously injured in a wreck in Boyle County Thursday night.
The woman, identified by the Boyle County Sheriff's Department as Kristin Cartwright, was being treated at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Her infant's name and condition had not been released as of late Friday afternoon.
The two were injured about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when their vehicle ran through a guard rail and over an embankment at Lexington Road and Taylor Road near Danville, the Boyle County Sheriff's Department said.
Both the mother and child were ejected from the vehicle, the sheriff's department said in a press release. The preliminary investigation determined that neither seat belts nor child restrains were used.
The sheriff's department also said speed apparently was a factor, based on evidence at the scene and reports from multiple witnesses.
