A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle at 2:03 p.m. Thursday at Park Place and Russell Cave Road, Lexington police said.
The bicyclist, Thomas Kerr, 53, of Lexington, died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 2:25 p.m., police said.
Kerr and a Chevy Blazer driven by Terry A. Spencer of Lexington were both traveling inbound on Russell Cave Road near Park Place, according to police. Kerr was traveling on the white fog line when he was rear-ended by the Chevy Blazer. The Chevy Blazer then left the roadway, traveling in the grass and striking a utility pole, police said.
Spencer was not injured, according to a press release, and police don't suspect that the driver was impaired. The death is being investigated as accidental.
