A man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries after police say he was assaulted New Years Eve.
About 8:15 p.m., police and paramedics were called to a home in the 642 Silverleaf Drive, near Deep Springs Elementary school, by a witness who reported the man was unconscious and bleeding heavily.
The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was in critical condition, Lt. Roger Holland said. He said he could not immediately elaborate on the victim's injuries except to say that he was physically assaulted.
Police did not have a suspect about 10 p.m. Monday. Holland said police were interviewing at least one "person of interest."
The victim might have been assaulted at another location and driven to the home on Silverleaf, but Lexington police Lt. Roger Holland said investigators had not found another crime scene Monday night.
After the ambulance left, three officers stayed behind, interviewing several adults in the home. A forensics investigator came to the scene later and photographed the inside of a dark, four-door sedan, which was parked in the driveway with its dome light on.
The officers and the forensics investigator also periodically entered a shed in the home's back yard.
