A body was found Monday in the Tug Fork River in Pike County.
The body, which has not been identified, was found in the South Williamson community about 12:30 p.m., according to a Kentucky State police news release.
Belfry Fire Chief Nee Jackson told WYMT-TV in Hazard that the body washed up on the Kentucky side of the river, which follows the state line between Kentucky and West Virginia. State police are investigating.
Jackson said the driver who first saw the body Monday stopped and used binoculars to make certain what he saw and then called police.
The remains have been taken to the state medical examiner's office for identification.
Mingo County, W.Va., authorities said they are looking for a missing person.
