A Lexington man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for robbing a bank in Maysville in May 2012.
U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves sentenced Patrick Andrew Donald, U.S. Attorney's office spokesman Kyle Edelen said in a news release.
Donald pleaded guilty Sept. 24, admitting that he and an accomplice robbed the Security Trust Bank on May 16, 2012. According to testimony at Donald's sentencing hearing, the two men entered the bank dressed in winter clothing and demanded money from three tellers, the news release said.
Donald's accomplice implied that he had a gun and used his hand to conceal a metal object in his coat pocket. The accomplice then repeatedly pounded the counter in front of the tellers with the object as he demanded money.

Because the object was considered a dangerous weapon and was used to commit the robbery, Donald received an enhanced sentence.
