A former Fayette County jail employee accused of exposing himself and touching inmates inappropriately will not face jail time unless he violates the terms of his probation.
Former corrections officer Kevin Michael Lawson, 29, pleaded guilty last week to one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, according to court documents.
Lawson was fired from the jail in January 2011, the month after two female inmates told authorities he followed them into the bathroom and exposed himself while he was on duty.
According to court records, Judge T. Bruce Bell sentenced Lawson to two years' probation in lieu of 12 months behind bars. He also was ordered to undergo sex offender treatment and pay a $154 fine.
Both of the women have since sued Lawson, the city and the jail. The civil cases are pending in Fayette Circuit Court, according to court records.
