A probation and parole officer was shot while trying to serve a warrant in Knott County Monday.
Officer Brian Melvin and three other probation and parole officers were visiting the home of Rocky Wicker Sr. on Ky. 550 in Mousie to try to serve a warrant on Wicker's son, Rocky Wicker Jr., when the elder Wicker opened fire on Melvin as he was walking up to the home, state police said in a news release.
Wicker also shot at the state vehicle in which the three other officers were waiting.
Melvin, who was shot in the arm, fired back, but he did not hit Wicker.
