Three people have been indicted in connection with a case in which a woman said she was kidnapped and assaulted with a tire iron.
A Fayette County grand jury on Monday indicted Alex Jerome Washington, 30; his wife, Jennifer Renee Washington, 33; and Thomas Stokley Jr.
The victim, identified in court documents as Niki Allen, told police that she drove with Alex Washington to the Washingtons' home on Dalna Drive on Sept. 24.
When they got there, Allen said Alex Washington, who appeared to be angry and high on cocaine, forced her into the basement.
Washington held a knife to Stokley's throat and forced him to duct tape Allen's arms behind her back and duct tape her legs together, according to an arrest warrant.
Alex and Jennifer Washington then stuffed an orange cloth into Allen's mouth and began hitting her with a tire iron, the documents state.
A police citation says Jennifer Washington told the woman, "You are gonna get what you deserve."
Stokley stopped the assault by calling 911, according to the arrest warrant.
Allen had purple bruising on her lower back, was bleeding from her right elbow and had minor bruising on the right side of her face. The arrest warrant said the injuries were "consistent with the use of a tire iron."
Alex Washington was indicted on charges of kidnapping, second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender.
He was previously convicted of second-degree complicity to robbery and complicity to second-degree burglary in Hardin Circuit Court, according to the indictment. Washington was being held on $87,500 bond.
Jennifer Washington was indicted on charges of kidnapping and second-degree assault and was being held on $80,000 bond.
Stokley, who corroborated Allen's statements, was indicted on a charge of kidnapping and was being held on $20,000 bond.
Arraignment is scheduled for noon Dec. 5.
