A Corbin man has been arrested on burglary and arson charges in connection with a fire Monday at a Corbin ice plant.
Joshua Lee Stevenson told police that he burglarized and set fire to the Corbin Ice Co. on Cumberland Falls Highway, Maj. Rob Jones said.
Stevenson also admitted to burglarizing the ice plant previously, police said.
He has been charged with second-degree arson and two counts of third-degree burglary.
Stevenson, 22, stole more than $1,000 in tools, Christmas lights and other things, police said.
Jones told police that the items were used to buy drugs. Once he ran out of money to support his drug habit, police said, he returned to the plant and took more items before setting it on fire.
Police arrested Stevenson the day after the fire for the first burglary. He later confessed to the second burglary and the arson.
Stevenson is being held on $10,000 bail at the Whitley County jail for the first burglary,
Investigators plan to seek a higher bail amount once the additional charges are explained during his arraignment.
Police got a call at 2 a.m. Monday about the fire at the plant, Jones said. The building suffered extensive damage, he said.
