A series of fires kept Lexington firefighters busy from early Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The fires began about 6:45 p.m. Monday, when someone apparently threw some type of incendiary device through the front window of a home on Thames Drive, causing a fire inside.
According to initial reports, a "Molotov cocktail" was tossed into the house. But it's unclear just what the device was, said Maj. Mark Harvey of the Lexington Division of Fire.
"It's really hard to tell until we get more information," Harvey said Tuesday morning.
Never miss a local story.
An investigation is continuing, he said.
About 7:30 p.m. Monday, firefighters were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 400 block of Redding Road.
Firefighters said one apartment at the complex was damaged, but the fire's cause was unknown.
About 12:05 a.m., firefighters rushed to a house on Boxwood Drive.
According to preliminary reports, a fire in a kitchen spread to the attic of the house. The fire is under investigation.
