Officers charged a truck driver with driving under the influence on Sunday after his tractor-trailer ran off Ky. 80 in Laurel County and deputies had to hold him up on the walk to a police car.
Avtar Singh, 28, of Oak Creek, Wis., also was charged with operating a tractor-trailer without efficient brakes, having no insurance, and numerous other traffic violations, the Laurel Sheriff's Department said.
Singh was arrested about 3 p.m. Sunday after deputies were dispatched to a location on Ky. 80 about four miles west of London.
Deputies found the tractor-trailer off the highway and stuck in a ditch, according to the department. Officers smelled alcohol about the driver, the department said.
Deputies had to hold up the driver while leading him to a police car, the sheriff's department said.
The driver had left Indianapolis on Sunday morning bound for a business in London, the department said.
Singh was taken to the Laurel County jail.
