An Irvine woman whose body was found Wednesday in rural Estill County apparently died of exposure, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.
State police received a call shortly after noon Wednesday that a woman had been found dead next to a vehicle on Turkey Pen Road. The county coroner identified her as Vickie H. Arvin, 55.
Based on an investigation, it appeared that Arvin died after her vehicle slid off the road and got stuck on a creek bank. Arvin got out of her vehicle and subsequently fell into the creek. She was able to get out of the creek and return to the passenger side door of her vehicle, where she died.
Foul play does not appear to be a factor, state police said.
Detective Jesse Armstrong is the investigating officer. Anyone with any additional information is encouraged to contact the state police Richmond Post at (859) 623-2404 or toll free at 1-800-222-5555.
