Street closings necessitated by additional repairs at the Fayette County Circuit Courthouse will require some street restrictions for the next month, Lexington officials said Tuesday.
The right-turn lane on North Limestone at Short Street was closed Tuesday morning, officials said.
Also, the right lane of East Short Street between North Limestone and North Martin Luther King Boulevard has been closed.
The closings will be in effect through April 1, according to Lexington officials.
The streets are being closed to make access easier for contractors and workers making repairs at the circuit courthouse.
The building was extensively damaged Oct. 21 when a leaking toilet flooded the first four floors and the basement.
Initial repairs were made last fall to areas on the first and fourth floors, plus courtrooms on the second and third floors, which had to be available for public use, according to the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts.
The next phase, starting now, is to repair the rest of the building, courts officials said.
Officials said the street closings might affect some street parking next to the circuit courthouse. But access to the courthouse or the nearby parking garage should not be hindered, they said.
