Speed might have been a factor in a fatal pickup truck crash late Thursday night on a rural road, according to Lexington police.
The wreck happened about 11:20 p.m. on Briar Hill Road near Hidden Lake Lane, police said.
Taylor Ann Davis, 22, of Lexington, died after losing control of the Ford Ranger she was driving. On a curve, the pickup left the road, struck a utility pole and stopped against a tree, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
Davis, who was ejected from the truck, died at the scene, police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.
A female passenger was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, Roberts said.
The road was closed until about 3 a.m. while utility crews repaired the damaged pole. The crash remains under investigation, Van Brackel said.
He said speed was a contributing factor: "The amount of damage to the truck suggests they were traveling at a good rate of speed."
