A man who avoided arrest for three years has been convicted of murder in the 2010 death of a 33-year-old man who was shot and killed on a Lexington street in 2010, according to WKYT-TV.
A jury reached the verdict Wednesday night in the trial of Terrence Sims, WKYT reported. Sims killed Stephen Kavanaugh Jr., 33, on June 4, 2010, on Elsmere Park near Sixth Street.
Sims was arrested last year in Michigan. Media reported that evidence collected in Michigan matched samples from the crime scene in Lexington.
"Investigators called the shooting a drug deal gone bad," and Sims confessed, WKYT reported. The jury recommended a 35-year prison sentence.
