Fire destroyed a mobile home early Friday morning despite efforts by Lexington and Scott County firefighters.
"It was still standing, but the inside was burned beyond repair," said Maj. Mark Harvey of the Lexington fire department.
It happened about 3:15 a.m. at a mobile home off Laredo Drive, according to firefighters. The site straddles the Fayette County-Scott County line.
According to Harvey, Scott County firefighters working another scene nearby responded to the mobile home fire. Lexington fire units arrived moments later.
A woman who lived in the mobile home told firefighters that her dog awakened her, Harvey said.
She and another person escaped from the fire unharmed, but three other dogs didn't get out, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Harvey said firefighters think the blaze was accidental.
